The death toll in the shooting in Las Vegas has grown to 59 people, another 527 were injured, the sheriff of the city, Joseph Lombardo, said.
At the same time, the policeman noted that the announced figure is not final.
Earlier 58 people were reported dead and 515 wounded.
Motive is unknown
Lombardo said the motif of Stephen Paddock, who opened the shooting, is not yet installed. The sheriff also confirmed that Paddock lived near Las Vegas in the city of Mesquite. In his house, according to Lombardo, found 18 pieces of firearms, explosives and ammunition. Another 16 weapons were found in the hotel room, from which he fired.
Previously, police reported that Paddock was not held criminally liable. The relatives of the man admitted that for them it was a complete surprise when they found out what had happened.
The owner of a gun shop in Utah, in which Paddock bought a gun, said that he successfully passed the necessary verification.
According to Chris Michael, Paddock visited his shop several times, located 40 minutes from the Paddock house in Nevada. “There was nothing alarming (in the buyer), I had no idea that he was capable of this,” the store owner said.
Previously, police reported that Paddock was not held criminally liable. The relatives of the man admitted that it was a complete surprise for them when they found out about the committed crime.
In the evening on Sunday local time Stephen Paddock opened fire from the room from the 32nd floor of the hotel where he lived, to the participants of the music festival in Las Vegas, and then, allegedly, committed suicide.
The tragedy in Las Vegas became the largest in the United States in terms of the number of casualties in the shooting. Although the terrorist group “Islamic State” took responsibility, * the FBI did not find confirmation that Paddock was connected with international terrorists.
